Through the cooperation, several aspects will be tested. Partners plan to establish a verification system for court decisions ensuring cross-border enactment. The whole legal process will be modernized, and blockchain technology will help to raise process efficiency, for instance, to eliminate the need of having several document copies. Further, the research will include appealing procedures via smart contracts.

“The task force is in line with our guiding principle to deliver courts as a service, powered by technology and extended through cooperation agreements and alliances,”

said Amna Al Owais, COE of DIFC Courts. Dr. Aisha bint Butti Bin Bishr, the director general of the Smart Dubai Office, commented that the

‘Court of the Blockchain’ project is the biggest aim in e-government services development. “An invention of this caliber and potential requires an equally disruptive set of rules and an empowered institution to uphold them. This is where our partnership with DIFC Courts comes in,”

said Dr. Aisha

She continues that

“one of the most notable of these innovations is Blockchain, where the Dubai Blockchain Strategy seeks to run 100% of applicable government transactions on Blockchain by 2020.”
